Return to Patagona    Romero Pools July 26, 2008      Return to Temple

The monsoon season came early this year, beginning with July 1.  So by the end of the month, many or our washes were saturated
and running briskly. The night before, Tucson, especially the North West side had been blasted by a pounding rain, wind, and bright
lightening followed by loud thunder.  Dianne Temple and I decided we'd love to give the mountains a tour providing the weather
wasn't too bad in the morning. As it turned out, the storm had passed us by and it looked like a nice day for a hike.  Unfortunately,
when we arrived at the park entrance, we found the road closed due to wash out from the previous night, so we parked at the
entrance and made our way to the trail head on foot, about a mile and a half trek. As you can see by the first few pictures, we had
to begin the actual mountain hike by taking our shoes off and crossing the wash.  The sites were beautiful from all the recent rains
but oh goodness it was humid and we were both dripping. We made it to the pools only to find them loaded with the fasted moving
and most water since moving here. It really was a terrific hike and a good time was had by both of us.  This was a terrific morning
shared with a terrific environment and genuine friendship. High Five to thrill seekers.
