| Our exploration of the wonderful country of Ecuador included
three uniquely different areas. We began with a stay in the capital of
Quito at 9300 feet and a visit to Cotopaxi, the second highest active volcano
where we climbed to almost 16,000 feet in the snow. Otavalo and the
Highlands included hiking in the cloud forest, lots of orchids, a stay at an old
hacienda, the hot springs of Papallacta, and a stop at the equator. In the
Galapagos islands we hiked, kayaked, snorkeled, biked and enjoyed the diversity
of life on the islands of San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, and Isabella. The
jungle adventure down the Napo river opened our eyes to a wondrous variety of
plants and animals and a different way of life. It was a trip of a life
time. |
